Crystal Persuasions

by Michael Lamas

The Mineral Kingdom has multiple layers. Here, we'll explore some of them and cover sensitivity to stones, astral mechanisms, healing, and crystal layouts. Also, we'll cover methods for "clearing" crystals. First, though, I want to share how crystals have influenced and enriched my life.

Until 1989, I thought a rock was rock. Sure, some were remarkable: they had vivid colors and fantastic shapes...but "vibes?" I didn't believe in vibes. That year, though, I was curious enough to see what this was about. I walked into a New Age shop and asked the owner for a crystal "session." She told me to lie on this dark-green massage table and make myself comfortable, which I did. I closed my eyes, and she began placing stones on my body. On my forehead, she placed a boulder. Soon, I felt an uplifting energy rushing through my body. Within a few minutes, I was floating away - I don't know to where - but it felt remarkable.

When she was done and I had returned to my regular state of consciousness, I asked to see the huge rock that she had put on my forehead. She showed me. It was an azurite nodule, about the size of a dime. How could something so small feel so heavy? When dealing with the "vibrations" of stones, I've learned that size doesn't matter. You can prove this to yourself. If you are sensitive to stones, hold a piece of Brazilian monazite in your palm. They are the size of a grain of millet. You won't believe the power!

Sensitive/Not Sensitive

Soon we had our own crystal shop. Couples would come visit, and I would give them "The Crystal Test." Each, in turn, would place a crystal on his or her forehead. One would say, "Wow! That almost knocked me over!" The other would say, "What am I supposed to feel?" Why is that?

From a psychiatric perspective, the one who felt something is "mental;" the one who felt nothing is "normal." The soft science of psychiatry can only judge reality within a third-dimensional (material plane) context. Crystal vibes are a fourth-dimensional phenomenon, so for materialists, they simply don't exist. How easy it is to dismiss this experience!

From some religious perspectives, crystals can represent a doorway to the devil - something to avoid. Others believe that some are holy objects and use them as tools in their sacred rituals.

From a metaphysical perspective, the person who felt something has an open, energetic link to the Mineral Kingdom. The question is, why do some have this link while others do not? In any event, being insensitive to stones does not mean that the person is emotionally or spiritually insensitive.

Astral Mechanisms: How They Work

Metaphysically, crystals work through the Fourth Dimension or "astral plane." They work in at least two ways. First, they act as transformers that filter and, consequently, change the dynamic energy of the aura. As the aura's energy circulates through the crystal, the crystal can clear, calm, heal, or enhance the frequency of the aura, depending on which crystals you use. It takes about eleven minutes for one filtering cycle to complete itself. Second, crystals can produce a variety of beneficial phenomena.

Here is how I discovered this. In 1990 I was blessed with the ability to channel beings who could see the effects of crystals. I would see though astral eyes. For example, hexagonite is a pink stone related (by color) to the Fourth or "Heart" Chakra. When I was channeling, I aimed a piece at a friend's heart. I saw a fine, green ray stream out of the stone, apparently healing that area. Another time, I placed muscovite on the Seventh or "Crown" Chakra. I saw several fish-scale-like structures standing erect inside the person's head. It was as if his brain had a half-dozen "Mohawks" (the hair style). The channeled entity explained that these structures increased mental clarity.

A note on astral entities: some believe that all astral entities are evil. Others believe that they are all benevolent. Many don't believe in them at all. In my experience, I have met interesting and benevolent entities as well as dark and devious ones. You can learn cool stuff from the former, and you can act like a fool under the influence of the latter. Use caution when dealing with them. They can play on your ego.

The Mineral Kingdom is the most humble of all. If you don't believe in the astral plane, then this sounds like nonsense. If rocks lack consciousness, then obviously they cannot be humble. However, I believe that although consciousness may appear absent at the material level, this does not exclude it from being present at another. Treat them with respect...just in case.

Reality is beyond what any of us can imagine: nature didn't design our brains for that kind of understanding. Though our ignorance is divisive, it also can unite us if we understand how it separates us. Nez Master Jalbik Dender states it succinctly in his highly appraised work, The Book of Clues: "Hold hands in the darkness, but not too tightly."

Healing and Other Uses

Can crystals heal the physical body? I don't know anyone who has claimed that a crystal has cured them of a cold, flu, or other physical illness. Maybe they help; I don't know. They can be useful in other areas though.

For instance, people who suffer from depression have treated themselves with lepidolite, mica that contains lithium. It's no coincidence that doctors prescribe lithium medicine for depression. The difference is that lithium medicine is much more potent than the crystal applications. Also, they can produce devastating side effects. Crystals are less potent, but more gentle and holistic.

Crystals can energize you. Once, I placed a flat, four-pound piece of selenite under my pillow. I was expecting to have cool dreams or something. What I didn't count on was the huge amount of "up" energy that it was pumping into my head. I laid there awake - eyes blown open - until 3 AM, when I finally realized that this wasn't going to work.

Some stones can clear your emotional body. Moldavite, an emerald-green tektite (meteorite glass), is a good example because it can trigger an emotional "flushing." One afternoon, I was holding a piece of it. Suddenly, I was so overcome with emotion that I broke down and began crying uncontrollably. It was so intense that I had to drop the stone to make the flushing stop. After that, I felt much lighter.

These are just a few examples of what stones can do.

Crystal Layouts

You create a crystal layout by placing stones on the body. Actually, even one stone qualifies. Place them on pressure points, organs, or the chakras. Many layout techniques exist and most are OK. With basic knowledge and sensitivity, you can create a useful pattern. With practice, you can become skilled and effective at it until eventually you master it.

I use the intuitive approach. I go inside and ask, "Which stone should I put here?" My spirit guides me. Having studied the colors, chakras, and elements, I imagine that this information is stored in my subconscious. It influences my intuition or gives my spirit more 3-D information to work with.

If you are using only one stone, then try placing it on the forehead or "Third Eye." That spot is exceptionally sensitive. For instance, one morning I was having a crystal session with a client who was new to this. We were sitting at a table, and I handed her a small piece of benitoite. This rare, sky-blue gem has a beautiful, heavenly vibration. She closed her eyes and held it on her forehead. In less than a minute, she fell forward, landing face first on the table. If the Third Eye is too intense to work with, then place the stone somewhere else.

The Care and Cleaning of Your Crystal

Most crystals are fragile. Don't drop them, right? How about clearing or "de-bad-vibing" them? Some recommend washing or soaking them in salt water. That probably works, but know your stones: some will change color (gem anglesite will become cloudy) or even melt (like halite) when washed. Exposing them to sunlight is supposed to work too, but again, be aware. Celestite, vivianite, opal, and others will fade or change color if you keep them in the sun for too long. Red-orange realgar will even transform into lemon-yellow orpiment.

In my experience, stones don't need that much clearing. When I do sense that one is astrally dirty, I either "tone" at it (make sounds channeled from spirit) or run my Etheric Laser Scalpel over it. When one becomes physically dusty, I run water over it and dry it carefully.

Conclusion

I have to warn you: stone collecting can be addicting. Over the years, I've collected several hundred species and have dozens of favorites.

Give yourself the crystal test. If you pass, then expect to have exciting adventures. The Mineral Kingdom is an amazing, multidimensional world to explore.
