Books: A Psychological Study Leads to One Man's Transformation in New Novel

Posted on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - 06:39 PM

The exploration of one man's mind leads another to enlightenment and a transformation of consciousness in T. Dworksy's novel, "Interior Fields."

A Psychological Study Leads to One Man's Transformation in New Novel

Author T. Dworsky did his initial research for Interior Fields while living for a short time in London after completing his undergraduate training in creative writing. And it was during the time he spent in the Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst that he developed the character sketches for Daniel and Pepon, the main characters of the story.

Told in the style of a psychological study, Interior Fields is the story of Peter "Peppy" Pepon whose labile bipolar disorder makes him the subject of manipulation by his friend and confidant, Daniel Aen. Daniel is the student of a radical philosopher and he agrees to study the mind in the state of epiphany. He does this by creating a world of chaos and emotional stress for an already frantic Pepon.

Throughout the story, Pepon is in a state of mania. During his study of Pepon, Daniel not only comes to learn about enlightenment, but also the nature of human guilt. "Interior Fields has a great deal of personal significance for me," says Dworsky. "Peppy has been with me for years and I feel like he is more of a real person than many who actually exist."

Interior Fields is Dworsky's second novel. He has written Claiming Rain King as well as one other publishing credit Vampires in the Classroom, an essay in The Family Track published by the University of Illinois Press in 1998. He is currently working on his third novel tentatively titled The Nurse and the Hollow Tubes.
