Media: Meditation/Affirmation CD Set Uses Two Voices and Two Sets of Suggestions

These CDs use two voices at once, sending one set of suggestions into each ear. The theory is that the mind will not be able to focus on two voices at once, allowing the affirmations to better get to the unconscious.

Paraliminal Pathways, a newly-founded women-run hypnosis CD recording company, is pleased to announce the launch of its first paraliminal CD set: Pathway to Prosperity. The set contains two CDs, one hypnotic paraliminal meditation session and one affirmations-based CD, both focused on implementing the Law of Attraction to create abundance (in the areas of love, friendship, satisfaction and gratitude as well as wealth) in one's life. Following on its heels, Paraliminal Pathways will release Pathway to Self Esteem and Pathway to Creativity. The company plans to release a total of 12 CD sets within the next two years. They will also create custom-made CDs -- by request and based on interviews -- to address the specific needs of some consumers.

Says Joan Schweighardt, the partner overseeing marketing, "Paraliminals are the next generation in effective self-hypnosis techniques. Basically, whereas traditional hypnosis CDs feature one voice providing one set of hypnotic suggestions, paraliminals feature two different sets of hypnotic suggestions (or patters), generally both recorded by the same hypnotherapist, so that one plays in each ear of one's headset. In addition to their work as hypnotherapists, L'aura Bodmer and Julie Mars, the two recording partners at Paraliminal Pathways, bring many years of related experience to their efforts. L'aura, who was born in Honolulu, is a practitioner of ancient Hawaiian Huna healing techniques. In addition to a successful healing practice, she has given Huna workshops across the country. Julie, who is a life-long student of symbolism, Jungian dream analysis, and the esoteric interpretation of Tarot, is a certified yoga instructor, a creativity coach, a college writing teacher, and an award-winning author. (Her second book, a memoir called A Month of Sundays: Searching for the Spirit and My Sister, was a Barnes & Noble "Discover Great New Writers" selection and was featured in bookstores across the country. Her third book, a novel called Anybody Any Minute, will be published by St. Martin's in Spring, 2008.)
