| 30 Days of Peace - under the auspices of the Culture of Peace Initiative - is a global networking project that is tracking and raising awareness of Peacebuilding events happening throughout the world between September 11th and October 10th, 2007, in alignment with the International Day of Peace. 30 Days of Peace is a joint project of Pathways To Peace and Earthdance International.
30 Days of Peace Began September 11, Concludes October 10, 2007
The first annual 30 Days of Peace began on September 11th, 2007, the 101st anniversary of the founding, by Mahatma Gandhi, of the modern non-violence movement, and concludes on October 10th, the birthday of the late international journalist and musician Daniel Pearl. The central focus of 30 Days is the International Day of Peace, held annually on September 21st. Each year during this time period, an uncharted number of peace-related events and projects are happening in almost every nation on Earth. This year 30 Days of Peace will take the first steps in identifying and formalizing this global network of people, non-profit organizations, and companies, by creating an event database, and publicizing this crucial work via an online campaign. By gathering and distributing information about peace events and organizations, 30 Days of Peace seeks to increase ongoing awareness and participation in peacebuilding work.
Included in 30 Days of Peace are the 11th Annual Earthdance Global Music and Dance Festival for Peace, September 15; and the 6th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, October 1 - 15. The combined reach of these two organizations alone is hundreds of event locations worldwide.
