| New virtual destination honors Halloween Hall of Fame members and highlights the history behind Halloween.
The Halloween Hall of Fame Opens its Creaking Doors "He really should be in the Halloween Hall of Fame," remarked Harold Maxwell after hearing of the passing of Bobby "Boris" Pickett earlier this year. And with those words, the Halloween Hall of Fame was begun. Maxwell, founder of online costume store: Annie's Costumes, quickly formed a Board of Directors who helped choose the inaugural members of the Halloween Hall of Fame. Besides Bobby "Boris" Pickett, who popularized the Halloween-themed favorite "The Monster Mash", the Halloween Hall of Fame includes Lon Chaney Jr, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi and Elvira "Mistress of the Night." Each was chosen based on their evident association with Halloween.
To allow others to contribute, the website features an opportunity to vote for this year's nominees. Additionally, there are fun facts about Halloween and highlights of the history behind Halloween. The Board of Directors also chose to use the Halloween Hall of Fame to shine a spotlight on a local charity, "Healing Hearts on Halloween". This organization raises funds to donate goodie bags to children in hospitals who cannot enjoy the Halloween fun of trick or treating.
Each Halloween, new members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. This year's nominees include actors, film directors, authors, and historical figures. You can vote for your favorites at www.HalloweenHallofFame.org.
About the Halloween Hall of Fame: Healing Hearts on Halloween is a charity started in 2002 by a 7-year old boy. With the help of family, friends and his community - as well as donations from all over - he makes and hand delivers over 800 halloween-related goodie bags to sick children who cannot go trick or treating.
