Monterey Music Festival Debut Concert on October 20-21

The Monterey Music Summit is an interactive arts festival created to serve as a forum for new thought and inspired intervention regarding the critical political and social issues of our time. The Monterey Music Summit features some of the most relevant contemporary and historically important musicians from a variety of genres all in concert, including: Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Roots, G.Love & Special Sauce, Cake, Ozomatli, Céu, Brandi Carlile, Colbie Callait and several others. Performers are invited to participate not for their talent and popularity alone, but also for their willingness to speak openly on current political matters, and for their commitment to positive social change.

Beautiful Monterey will host 25 cutting-edge musical performances on three stages over two days on October 20-21, 2007, offering concert attendees everything from regional favorites to international icons of pop, rock, folk and world music, all live in concert. The confirmed line-up for Saturday features: The Roots, Cake, G.Love & Special Sauce, Zap Mama, New Monsoon, Crash Hot, CeU, Meshell Ndegeocello, Bang Bang Bang, Jessie Baylin, Melodrome, and the Yard Dogs Road Show. The confirmed line-up for Sunday features: Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ozomatli, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC), ALO, Tea Leaf Green, Honeycut, Brandi Carlile, Colbie Caillat, Ian Ball (Gomez), Ollabelle, Dan Bern, West Indian Girl, and the Yard Dogs Road Show.

Performance art and film presentations will complement the concert stages throughout the weekend in some of the more intimate rooms at this magical venue (made famous by the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival). The World Market will feature a variety of organic food and fair-trade merchandise vendors. The weekend promises to be a special gathering of minds, music and merriment. Organizers strive to create a dynamic, friendly and environmentally progressive event through awe-inspiring performances and thought-provoking exhibits.
