Spirituality/General: Running In “Safe Mode”

Running In “Safe Mode”

by Rev. Bethney Steadman

Recently my computer decided to start running in Safe Mode. At first I wasn’t too distressed. I could still receive and send email. I could print documents as long as I closed all other running programs. I could even do word processing. The only limitation I had was in viewing graphics. So what if my beautiful blue-sky desktop was now a mottled gray and white, this was purely cosmetic. So instead of dealing with this new computer-glitch head-on I decided to adjust my expectations.

Then yesterday I received photos via email of my friend’s cats, and because I’m in Safe Mode I couldn’t view the photos she’d sent. Then I received an email from an online service that I had recently joined saying that the graphic I’d sent them was corrupted and could I send them a new one. Well, I wanted to. I’d paid for a graphic advertisement and now I couldn’t send them a photo. Why? Safe Mode again. Then I received an email from a friend asking if I had downloaded the photos of us from our recent night out? All of a sudden this computer glitch had become an annoyance that was impinging on my ability to have a complete and full Technicolor experience with my computer.

What does any of this have to do with our spiritual evolution? My recent computer difficulties and my reluctance to address the problem was yet another mirror of how I was living my life. Life has the amazing ability to send us experiences that force us deal with our stuff. I realized in that moment that I was living in Safe Mode. For me that meant only doing what I had to do and adjusting to all limitations.

But is this the full, Technicolor life I want for myself? Absolutely not! With determination I scoured help menus, control panels, and computer settings folders, and after several hours was still unable to determine what to fix, as I had no clue as to what was broken. Then I reached-out over the Internet to computer-skilled friends and spent another day trying everything from repeatedly pressing Control & F8 keys (in synch with the nano-second timing of my computer’s re-boot function) to smudging the machine with sage to remove evil spirits.

Admitting defeat, I determined it was time to bundle-up the computer and take it downtown and have a professional help my silicon-based life-partner back to its former self. Hey, sometimes we all need to ask for help. This computer-based episode made me examine my own Safe Mode and the out-dated programs I’m running that prevent me from enjoying the life I want. And where are our individual computer programs stored? In our DNA.

“The DNA is the microcosm of the universe. It is a field of all possibilities and houses within it, in unmanifest form, all the laws of nature.” – Deepak Chopra

I don’t remember the first time I heard the phrase “twelve-strand DNA.” I didn’t know what it meant and didn’t much care as I had no place to file the information; it just wasn’t right for me at the moment. It wasn’t until a spiritual low-point in my life, when I began to manifest many emotional/physical discomforts, that I heard the phrase again and this time really listened.

I’d been familiar with the idea of energy medicine, medical intuitives and remote-viewing for years. I understood the idea that we all have several bodies: emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical. I was even familiar with the idea of a cosmic or etheric blueprint of our physical bodies that we were affecting every moment with our thoughts. So this time when I heard the phrase “twelve-strand DNA” I got it. Basically we have two actual DNA strands and ten virtual DNA strands that exist in our etheric blueprint. By activating our additional strands we accelerate our spiritual evolution, boost our immune system, and help us move out of pain and fear into joy and self-empowerment. As an added bonus, a 12-strand DNA activation includes the activation of the Youth & Vitality chromosome. This assists our bodies to live longer and healthier lives.

Once my 12-strand DNA was activated my life began to change in profound ways in every area of my life: I started a relationship with a beautiful, loving, spiritual man; quit my job; moved; and started my own business, all in three months! Even more amazing, the excruciating breast pain that I’d been living with for over a year, preventing me from sleeping on my stomach or even walking briskly, was absolutely gone and has never returned.

I’ve discovered that DNA activations are just the first step toward stepping into who and what we are and fully living authentic, healthy lives. The next part of my healing was to identify and clear out my old “computer programs” or negative core-beliefs.

All of us carry around negative core-beliefs, even those of us that have done a lot of work on ourselves, but we may not be aware of them because they are buried in layers of “sub-folders.” They may be in our subconscious, absorbed in childhood from something our parents did or said in a moment of unconsciousness; or genetically inherited from our great-great-great grandparents; or left-over from a past incarnation that we’ve carried into this one; or even something that we came in with on a soul level, as our souls are still learning. If they’re so deep how do we know if they’re in there?

I’ve found one of the best ways to identify buried negative core-beliefs is by using the body as a pendulum in a method I call the “lean test” thereby circumventing the conscious mind. This is done quite simply by stating a belief and then noticing if your body leans forward (yes) or backward (no).

The lean need not be dramatic. The trick I’ve found is that you need to make sure you are fully hydrated. To determine if you are hydrated, begin by asking your body a question you know the answer to, such as “my name is Bethney” or “I am a woman.” Once you get a forward-yes lean then you know you are hydrated and can begin testing yourself . Other muscle-testing methods also work well, such as a pendulum, or the classic finger-pulling or arm-pushing.

Here’s a very brief list of common negative core-beliefs. Muscle-test yourself to see how you do. The answers may surprise you:

YES NO I hate myself
YES NO I am undeserving
YES NO I am alone
YES NO I am unhealthy
YES NO I took an oath/vow of poverty
YES NO I am crying inside
YES NO Life is a struggle
YES NO Lessons are painful
YES NO I am a victim
YES NO I can’t lose weight
YES NO Sex is shameful
YES NO I hate my body
YES NO I hate wo/men
YES NO I doubt myself
YES NO God has abandoned me
YES NO It's wrong to be happy
YES NO It is hard to change
YES NO I want to die
YES NO God hates me
YES NO I hate my parents
YES NO I hate my spouse/lover
YES NO I hate my child/ren
YES NO Money is the root of all evil
YES NO I am not good enough
YES NO No one wants me
YES NO I am a burden to others
YES NO The world is better off without me
YES NO I am ugly
YES NO I am bad
YES NO I deserve to be punished

Okay, how’d you do? Not so good? That’s okay, no one’s going to make you sit in the corner. These are just old programs that we need to identify and clear out – no judgement involved. So, having identified a few of your negative core-beliefs how do we get rid of them? There are many methods described in books and on clinician’s couches that work quite well and include positive affirmations and the like. For me, with few exceptions, I feel that if I’ve “inherited” a lot of these negative core-beliefs and I don ’t need to spend a lot of time and energy examining and analyzing them – I just want them out of here!

It all comes back to love, forgiveness, and recognizing our divinity and connection to God. Yeah, yeah, I know...you’ve heard that about a million times. But before your eyes begin to glaze over and you reach for the TV remote, I’ll let you in on a little secret. It is possible to release negative core-beliefs in a matter of minutes instead of days, weeks, months, or even years. It has to do with going into Theta consciousness. Theta is the brain-wave state just above Delta, which is deep sleep. You can get to Theta by going into a very deep, relaxed state of meditation and then ask God to release a negative core-belief and replace it with a new shiny positive core-belief. For example, replace “I hate myself” with “I love myself.” You get the idea. Having trouble getting into Theta? Not to worry. I know how to go into and come out of Theta very quickly. So if you find you’re like me with computer problems...it may be time to ask for a little help.
