Soldier Charity Moves Into Second Life, Unites Families
BooksForSoldiers.com (BFS) has announced a day-long Christmas Eve party at its newly renovated BFS Social Club in Second Life.
The BFS Social Club, which initially opened on Halloween, will be hosting music, dancing, and a virtual Christmas tree stocked with free gifts donated by Second Life merchants such as the clothier, Formal Affair. The Social Club unites deployed US soldiers with their loved ones back home even though they are physically separated by thousands of miles. BFS Founder, Storm Williams said, “Second Life is a great opportunity for deployed soldiers to reunite with their family and friends back home for the holidays. It sure beats email.”

Books for Soldiers Second Life Social Club The charity, which is new to the Second Life world, has modeled the Social Club after the old USO dance halls of the WWII era and it will function not only as a meeting place but to provide information about the BFS mission and other resources such as its further events and parties. The Books For Soldiers Social Club is now open to all soldiers, vets, their friends, families and other supporters of members of the US military.
Books For Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that allows deployed US soldiers to request books, DVDs or video games. The requests are then filled by one of the over 40,000 volunteer members from all over the nation.
