With 2008 quickly approaching, millions of Americans are considering their New Year's resolutions, and most will swear that adopting a healthier lifestyle--including regular exercise--is their top priority. Unfortunately, research shows that fitness resolutions fade more quickly than any other--by January 15 in many cases. Award-winning, ASCM-certified fitness coach David Berger suggests that the exercise-challenged may find hope in a simple, low-cost approach to getting in shape.

"The human body itself is the finest fitness tool in the world," Berger says. "You don't need to drag out a fitness machine from under the bed or get up at 6 a.m. to go to a morning aerobics class. Most people just need to learn proper body posture, correct breathing, and the exact body mechanics for performing straightforward 'body-weight' exercises--which can be done whenever and wherever they like." Berger recommends that people seek certified health and fitness instructors for the best results.

The most effective programs allow people to exercise at their own pace, increasing the duration and difficulty of their routines as they gain strength.

Berger himself offers a comprehensive program for fitness through his NUMBER ONE ME video, on which he coaches viewers through 45 body-weight-only exercises and their progressions. The video is available on his motivational website at www.numberoneme.com.

At the age of 18, weighing over 250 pounds with a 40-inch waist and smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, David Berger struggled to climb a single flight of stairs. David's journey to better health began when he quit smoking. He also decided that he would immediately begin eating healthier and exercising, climbing a single flight of stairs a day and adding another flight each week. He also started performing calisthenic exercises. Through his commitment to his consistent and progressive approach, he lost over 88 pounds and 6 inches from his waist within one year. David went on to earn a degree in Kinesiology from West Chester University and launch Progressive Fitness Coaching and now the NUMBER ONE ME! personal coaching DVD.
