Metaphysical artist Mickie Bellah's oil paintings are continuing to gain national recognition. First, Mystic Pop Magazine featured her art in an extensive article in the November/December issue. Then Innerchange, a magazine about mindful living, selected "Purple-2" from Bellah's new Luminescence series for the cover of its December/January issue, on newsstands and online now.
Article Continues After Illustration
"Purple" by Mickie Bellah Exposure for Bellah's paintings continues in her home state of Texas. Directions, The Magazine of the Texas Hill Country was searching for a specific type of painting and knew it had found it when it followed the links on Bellah’s first press release. The painting, titled “Karma,” will appear in Directions' January 2008 issue. But it hasn't stopped there. The Publicity Hound, Joan Stewart, heard about the artist's publicity streak and wrote an article for her weekly newsletter, which has more than 35,000 readers around the world.
Bellah began painting in the early '70s, but stuck with her day job, advertising, for another 20 years. In the '90s she took art classes, and by 2002 had developed her signature technique: applying spirit-guided colors while she spins and/or tilts the canvases. She recently started her Luminescence series, after an "accident" in her studio revealed yet another way to add color to canvas. Each oil painting can be hung in any direction to reveal new images.
