Workbook Helps Readers Heal from Traumatic Childhood Events
With the help of Dr. Barbara Sinor's recovery workbook, Gifts from the Child Within: Self-discovery and Self-recovery Through Re-Creation Therapy, individuals have the opportunity to successfully heal from childhood trauma using a proven therapy method. The book guides readers through the healing steps of "Re-Creation Therapy," a method Sinor has used for years with positive results in her own private practice. The book is flexible: readers can use it to heal from traumatic events--from childhood or the more recent past--independently, or it can be used as a tool in conjunction with professional therapy.
Re-Creation Therapy involves seven healing steps: acknowledgment, self-awareness, meeting the child within, emotional release exercises, re-framing the traumatic event, forgiveness and letting go. To give readers the closest possible experience to professional therapy, Sinor designed Gifts from the Child Within in a workbook format that includes a series of techniques she uses with clients such as healing visualizations and autohypnosis suggestions, blank journal pages and sample affirmations.
In the book, Sinor opens up about her own childhood experiences and gives readers personal examples from her personal journey toward healing. Gifts from the Child Within has the power to touch the reader's mind, body, and soul, guiding him or her through the process of conscious self-transformation to a state of trust, faith, and acceptance.
This updated 2nd edition of the book includes a reader-friendly topical index and an Afterword by Sinor, describing her Doctoral research on the effectiveness of the types of counseling techniques used in the book.
Dr. Barbara Sinor resides in Hidden Valley Lake, CA. She received her Doctorate in Psychology at the Southern California University for Professional Studies in 1997. In her private practice, she specializes in healing and recovery from addictions, post traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma and codependency and self-esteem issues. She is currently working on her fifth book, Tales of Addiction which documents personal stories from those addicted or recovering from drug and/or alcohol and those affected by addiction through friends or family.
