| A new book called "The Truth," by award-winning author Stephen Hawley Martin, draws upon research by impeccable mainstream sources to overturn the widely-held belief that awareness and mind are products of the brain.
"The Truth" Investigates the Mind/Brain Connection
An answer to a puzzle that's a lot like "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" has been found according to the author of a new book entitled The Truth.
The puzzle he addresses can be stated, "Which came first, awareness or the brain?"
Most would say the brain, of course, but he says they would be wrong. For example, plants have no brains yet a series of scientific studies he cites indicate they are aware. He also points to empirical evidence - that, for example, sunflowers follow the sun as it moves across the sky, which demonstrates awareness on their part, and sunflowers do not have brains.
The author's answer to the question, "Where are thought and awareness located?" also is not what most would expect. Some quantum physics experiments, he writes, demonstrate that what a researcher thinks he can know or not know about the behavior of subatomic particles will change the outcome of these experiments in a predictable way. He maintains it would be impossible for thought that remains inside the brain to have such an effect.
The author does not stop here. Most people learned in school that matter cannot be created or destroyed, but this may not be so, he writes. He points to research by a University of Maryland professor who has video taped matter that is 80 percent copper and 20 percent zinc, commonly known as brass, appear spontaneously out of thin air on the skin of a Florida woman. The professor has concluded that her mind causes this to happen.
These are just a few of the studies cited by author Stephen Hawley Martin in his new book, The Truth, which he uses to support his case that mind and awareness are primal and are in fact the origins of the universe.
"There is plenty of research available today to buttress this hypothesis," Martin said. "What I've done is to bring it together in a way I believe makes it hard if not impossible to refute."
Martin went on to say what is most important in his opinion, and the main reason people ought to read his book, is the potential for life-altering ramifications among those who learn the truth he has revealed. "Not only can it revolutionize the way a reader views the world," he said, "I believe it can change a person's life for the better. For the first time, many people will understand who they actually are and what they are capable of. The implications are huge."
Martin is an Internet talk show host of a top-rated program on WebTalkRadio.net called The Truth About Life, and the author of eleven books, which have won a total of six national awards for excellence. The first chapter of The Truth, which contains Martin's basic argument, can be downloaded at no cost as a PDF file from the author's web site, www.SHMartin.com.
