Actually, we couldn't care less about Paris Hilton. In fact, we're a little amused by the fact that in this age of the Patriot Act, global warming and war, there are people who think that keeping a spoiled little rich girl out of jail is a pressing issue. We're also amused that these same folks characterize this heiress to the Hilton fortune is a “self made” anything. Anyway, we offer this petition partly in jest, but if you wish to send it on to the good governor, just click on the envelope icon at the end of the text and enter the address governor@governor.ca.gov into the email form.

Governor Schwarzenegger - Please Double Paris Hilton's Sentence

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

Poor little Paris Hilton. After getting stopped numerous times for driving on a suspended driver's license, a judge has sentenced her to spend 45 days in jail. After spending a lifetime never having to take responsibility for her actions, she is finally being made to do so.

Bob Dylan Turns 60

by Christine Hall

Originally published on AlternativeApproaches.com in 2001

Most of us baby boomers were caught off guard when it was announced several weeks back that Bob Dylan was celebrating his sixtieth birthday. It didn’t surprise us, mind you, since all of us from that generation have gotten used to graying or thinning hair, wrinkles and sags, a gradual decline in energy, and all of the rest that accompanies getting older. But the thought of Dylan getting ready to collect his social security... Well, it doesn’t make sense somehow.

Planning on buying a pet?
Read this first...it might save a life

Did you know that when a dog is rescued from the pound (instead of purchased from breeder or pet shop), he/she knows its been rescued? You will never find a more loyal friend then that who knows you just rescued him/her! Isn't just this one fact alone enough to make you want to rescue/adopt instead of purchasing that cute puppy in the window who will surely grow up into an adult dog anyway?

Manmade or Natural? 13 Clear Signs of Unnatural Disasters

Coco Tralla LLC urges people worldwide to question 9/11/01 and the catastrophic events thereafter because the oddities and unexplainable science associated with the disasters contain clear signs that these events were orchestrated with a hidden political/financial agenda.

Press Release

Tralla Productions (pronounced tra-la) announces a massive campaign to expose the misuse of a “New” Energy that makes oil and gas pumps, even electric meters, obsolete. Company president & CEO, Coco Tralla, explains, “New is in quotes because the energy has been kept hidden from the public for decades -- and the reason for keeping it hidden is clear -- it’s all about power. Everyone must become aware of the clear signs so that we can stop the misuse of an energy that enables a select few to orchestrate catastrophic events with a political/financial agenda.”

Complexity of Iran Nuclear Program

Diplomatic strategy, rather than confrontational approach could be crucial to tackle with Iran

by Amit Pyakurel - AlternativeApproaches.com member

Besides the deepening complexity of international dealing over Iran nuclear program, the distrust seems to be prevailing mostly among the US, France, Germany, Britain, and Israel, among others. Iran is posturing a non-shaken defiance over its nuclear program, inviting the diplomatic overture like imposition of sanction from the Security Council, or the eventuality of ultimate use of force (from the US) against the Islamic Republic, the option which is being hugely disqualified by many international onlookers. Though the US has also preferred for a diplomatic solution, the ruling-out of such military option from the Bush administration would be incorrect.

Editor's Note: The following is a transcript of a speech given by former Vice President Al Gore at Sierra Club's National Environmental Convention and Expo in San Francisco on September 9, 2005.

Misguided Vision

by Al Gore

When the corpses of American citizens are floating in toxic floodwaters five days after a hurricane strikes, it is time to hold the leaders of our nation accountable for the failures that have taken place.

I know that you are deeply concerned, as I am, about the direction in which our country has been moving. About the erosion of social capital. About the lack of respect for a very basic principle, and that is that we, as Americans, have to put ourselves and our ability to seek out the truth because we know it will make us free. And then on the basis of truth, as we share it to the best of our abilities with one another, we act to try to form a more perfect union and provide for the general welfare and make this country worthy of the principles upon which it was founded.

Should Living Paycheck To Paycheck Be A Crime Punishable By Death In Floodwater?

by Lisa Earle McLeod

"It's their own fault, really. Why didn't those people just evacuate when they had the chance?" I overheard one woman saying to another in the line at the grocery store. I shielded my face with a box of frozen waffles and pretended to read the National Enquirer while I eavesdropped some more.

Let's Blame the French!

by Michel Berta, PhD
From Fourth Estate Lodge

Peace on earth will have to be found somewhere else, not on this planet, because as long as there are two different kinds of anything, there will be struggle, self-righteousness and a lack of humility; and because one has to be wrong and pay anyway, let's blame the French!

The Ghost of Elections Past

by Christine Hall

Los Angeles, summer of '72: a crowd of anti-establishment types gathered outside of the Wilshire Boulevard offices of CREEP, the Committee to Re-Elect the President, to hear Jane Fonda speak on the upcoming election. Mainly, this was pretty much a garden variety event for that era; “Nixon sucks,” “end the war now,” and “legalize pot” were the agenda of the day. The crowd was polite, but not overly enthusiastic.
