Q. My daughter has had three sets of ear tubes since the age of 4. She is now ten. In July, her body seemed to finally reject the tubes, particularly in one ear. Her doctor removed them. Since that time he has been unable to clear up a fungus in her ear. We see him three times a week, he suctions the ear, cleans it and puts Gentian Violet in it. Alcohol drops are very very painful for her. Boric Acid does not work either. He tried Diflucan to no avail. On September 3rd we thought we had finally come out of the woods – we had not seen him for a week and both ears were clear of fungus. On September 10th she was back with fungus in the other ear and is now in pain again. He is baffled. Do you have any thoughts on why this might be happening and why we can't seem to get rid of it? The Western world, however, with its dependence on clocks and deadlines, scoffs at such a notion, relying upon sayings such as “Time is money” and “Time is of the essence.”

Q. I love milk and dairy products but I am coughing up large amounts of mucous in the morning. I switched to soy milk but I don't like it in coffee. Would evaporated goats milk (or any goats milk) be a reasonable choice? Does goat milk produce mucous the way cow's milk does?

Q. I have read that soy milk can cause digestive problems in some people. Have you read anything about rice milk or almond milk causing the same problems?

For as long as I can remember I've suffered from back pain. Although I have experienced some relief using heat, cold, massage, chiropractic and acupuncture, invariably the pain has always returned. The Essence of Family

The rain storm came in fast and furious, wind whipping down the street, sound of the downpour resonating on the metal awning out front. It was a quiet Saturday, most folks not caring to go out on a day with such a threatening sky. I took the opportunity to get caught up on some things in the office. All of a sudden I heard a screaming outside, at my front door. Shocked, I quickly looked out to see what the trouble was, and saw a tiny, little girl, who was seeking shelter in the alcove of my front door, just howling away while the rain was pouring down. She was shaking, and wailing, and sobbing, gripping her little hands together, and looking out at the heavy rain pounding down the street. I started towards her from in my shop, and then I saw a strong set of arms scoop her up, and heard the voice of the mother saying, “It’s alright sweetheart, it’s OK. It’s just some rain.” She stopped crying immediately.

Several friends around me are greatly challenged now with illness and are embarking on various pathways for treatment and wellness, from conventional medical treatment through the whole range of alternative and complimentary therapies. In contemplation and support for them, and for all those challenged with illness no matter how minor, I would like to offer my thoughts on the philosophy of healing and the nature of wellness.

Question: We have two young children, ages three years and five months. Our three year old boy seems to get ear infections all the time, and today our pediatrician told us that he has childhood asthma. He also seems to get colds very frequently.

In a world with so many different techniques, modalities and practices in Natural Medicine, the question often comes up about what Naturopathy is exactly. How do we define our philosophy and technique of practice and what are the goals of Naturopathy?

Question: I have a sinus problem (approximately 1" below my left eye and 1/2" to the left of my nose). I use over the counter "sinus-allergy-headache" medications to control it. However, I'd prefer something natural. I've tried nettle extract with moderate results. Major changes in barometric pressure seem to trigger events. Anything that you can suggest will be appreciated. Question: I have been having chronic nose block and continuos mucous formation since childhood. On seeing it on the Internet, I started taking "Kali Bich 200." I really found it to be a miracle cure.

I've been taking it for the past 30 days, 4 tablets (the round sugar coated ones), 3 times a day. Can I continue taking it for a long time to experience a complete cure?
