Ed Begley, Jr. Launches FixingThePlanet.com
Ed Begley, Jr. launches FixingThePlanet.com with partners Tim Matteson and Joseph Gutwirth. Designed as a forum-based community, the site offers topic specific forums centered on environmental issues. Rather than “pushed” content which you find in Blogs or News related “green” sites, FixingThePlanet.com will be the one-stop resource for all things green. “I have been doing this stuff since 1970 – driving an electric car, composting, recycling – and I’ve always tried to set a good example for others who are interested in sustainable living. It’s not only been good for the environment, but it’s been good for my pocket book. With FixingThePlanet.com, my hope is that people have one place to go where they can find answers to their questions” says Mr. Begley.

Last year's politically charged indie feature, "Maple Palm," sneaks across the border from theaters to home video when it's released on DVD July 3. Set in California's idyllic Marina del Rey, the film's dramatic subject matter exposes the one arena in which gay relationships are a felony, and in the process, challenges our stereotypes of what it means to be an immigrant, and an American.
Gay Illegal Immigration Movie Tackles Political Issue
Art not only imitates history but current events in last years limited theatrical release Maple Palm, set to be released on a Collector's Edition DVD July 3. Maple Palm dramatizes the story of a lesbian couple of fifteen years concealing the secret that one is an illegal immigrant. As seen in the film's movie trailer and exclusive clips, Maple Palm offers an intense dramatization of what it means to be an illegal immigrant facing deportation. At times, the film is raw and disturbing, depicting the harsh and sometimes violent truth of these difficult circumstances. Yet the filmmakers insist that, at its core, Maple Palm is a love story, albeit a tragic one.

The ghosts of one Adirondack cemetery come alive again in autumn, as teenage Will Durant first collects ghost stories from several area residents, and then tests out his machismo in the graveyard - and has a ghost experience of his own.
Mother-Son Team Brings New Life to Old Adirondack Ghosts
Adirondack Nightmare: A Spooky Tale in the North Country is a brief ghost story aimed at "middle readers" (second or third grade through fifth or sixth grade) - and firmly rooted in a strong sense of place. Not only the plot line, but also the villages, sights, family names, and even local recipes in the book are drawn from local lore. The book was created by two lifelong area residents: Rebecca Leonard, owner of Under One Roof Video stores in Plattsburgh and Morrisonville, and her son Nick, a sophomore in high school, who illustrated the cover and interior as a college project.

Superheroes sing "Heroes of America" - an anti-war anthem protesting the war in Iraq and lamenting the loss of America's moral compass.
Superheroes Sing for Peace
Singer-songwriter August Bullock loved comic books as a child. Superman, Batman, and other heroes he admired never tortured their victims, never struck the first blow, and always adhered to the highest ethical standards.

Does white America suffer from an identity problem? Joel Godfrey Johnson asks some interesting questions in "Wake Up America." Our question is, is he a brave thinker, or are his ideas suspect?
What's With America's Love Affair With Self-Denial?
Why do people who claim to celebrate diversity not deal with it in their lives? Why do people who have obvious problems with themselves claim to know the answers to everyone else's? Why do people claim they don't see color when they look at an individual, yet they openly talk about people in reference to their color? And lastly, why is it that so many seem so concerned with the downtrodden of the world when in reality they only associate with people of economic or educational privilege?

The Vegetarian Union of North America (VUNA) challenges global warming activists and environmentalists to acknowledge the "Inconvenient Truth" that eating animals and their byproducts is the single greatest cause of global warming and that humankind can take an essential and enormous step in reducing global warming by eating lower on the food chain -- ideally, a plant-based diet. VUNA is initiating a major campaign to urge Al Gore and the environmental community to transfer the meat from their plates to the center of their climate change-fighting agendas.
