Noam Chomsky Voices Support for the Responsibility to Iraqi Refugees Act

Mandaean Crisis International, an organization dedicated to ending persecution of the Mandaean community, on Friday announced that Professor Noam Chomsky has publicly lent his support to the passage of House Resolution 2265. Called the Responsibility to Iraqi Refugees Act of 2007, the bill would confer immigration status to the U.S. for many religious minorities, including the Mandaean community in Iraq. The Mandaeans, also known as Sabian Mandaeans, are an ethnic and religious group of great but uncertain antiquity who revere John the Baptist as their last great teacher, but are not Christian.

Computers fail that control the position, oxygen and water levels of the International Space Station and have not come back on line.

Shuttle mission may be extended further due to ISS computer failure

NASA has stated that they may extend the STS-117 Space Shuttle Atlantis mission by another two days to assist in the repair the computers that control the position, oxygen and water levels of the International Space Station (ISS) which failed and have not come back on. As a result of the computer's failure, the thrusters on the station and the shuttle have been stabilizing the stations orbit.

There are reports that Michael Moore's anticipated film is now available online through peer to peer networks.

Michael Moore's new film "Sicko" leaked via P2P

A number of reports confirm that Michael Moore's forthcoming documentary has been leaked to peer-to-peer networks. The movie, Sicko, contrasts the U.S. healthcare system with that of several other countries and includes a trip to Cuba which Moore is being investigated for. He has, according to agency reports, stored a copy of the original film in Canada as a result of the investigation. His concern is that an attempt may be made to confiscate the section of the film shot in Cuba.

Although a sensor picked-up a hit to the shuttle's left wing, NASA suspects that the notification was only a glitch. However, the wing will be examined, just to be sure.

Left wing of Atlantis may (or may not) be damaged

NASA has reported that a sensor aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis recorded a force of 1G on the shuttle's left wing. This could have been a small impact caused by a meteorite or space junk, or a sensor glitch. The anomaly was recorded on reinforced carbon panels 7 and 8 and reported during a mission briefing on Tuesday afternoon by NASA.
