Whereas most birds are sole proprietors of their nests, some tropical species “time share” together – a discovery that helps clear up a 150-year-old evolutionary mystery, says Queen’s University Biology professor Vicki Friesen.
"Time-sharing" Tropical Birds Key to Evolutionary Mystery
An international study confirms one of Charles Darwin’s more controversial theories – first put forward in 1859 and since disputed by many experts – that different species can arise, unhindered, in the same place. Others believe that a geographic barrier such as a mountain or a river is required to produce two separate species. Although focused on how species change over time through natural selection, Darwin’s landmark book, The Origin of Species, also speculates that it is possible for different species to develop in the same place.

Pilots to Tell Their UFO Stories for the First Time
The American public is not alone when it comes to sighting what the US Air Force has labeled Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). So too have former governors, high level military and government officials, highly trained airplane pilots and aviation experts. The phenomenon is real. It happens worldwide. No one is sure about its nature. Experts from seven countries will divulge what they have discovered about UFOs at a November 12 panel discussion moderated by former Arizona Governor Fife Symington (R) at the National Press Club.

A new theory on the origin and future of the universe turns modern science on its end, and reinforces the views of time held by ancient thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle and Leonardo da Vinci.
The universe’s clock has neither a start nor finish, yet time is finite according to a New Zealand theorist. The theory, which tackles the age-old mystery of the origin of the universe, along with several other problems and paradoxes in cosmology, calls for a new take on our concept of time – one that has more in common with the “cyclic” views of time held by ancient thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle and Leonardo da Vinci, than the Christian Calender and Bible-influenced belief in “linear” time now so deeply imbedded in modern western thinking.

"A good way to think about it is to picture a clock, with the big bang being at time 0, the universe beginning to contract at 6 o'clock, and the big crunch being at 12 o'clock. Just before 12, the clock resets and immediately resumes at 0. Although the hands of the clock will continue to rotate indefinitely, it is the very same 12 hour interval that plays over, not a later one - there are no past or future cycles of the universe. It is one and the same."

All types of people do yoga, including men with muscles like calendar producer Matt Meko. Partial proceeds benefit The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors because we all need help to feel comfortable in our skin.
Yoga Beefcake a Month at a Time
If you think Christy Turlington is the epitome today of a fit person who practices yoga, you better think again. Sure she's hot, a former model and she actually practices yoga. But a new men's yoga calendar proves men in Western society can be amazing yogis themselves -- including men with muscles. (For the novice, a yogi is someone who practices yoga.)
