With the Islamic holy month of Ramadan fast approaching, how many employers are aware of its arrival and the impact it will have on the Muslim employees? Kwintessential, a cultural awareness training provider, has released a free guide on Ramadan to help raise some awareness.
Muslims, Ramadan and the Workplace
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins this week. Millions of people from Morocco to Malaysia will fast everyday from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. Among these will be significant numbers of Muslims working in offices in Europe and North America where Ramadan slips past unnoticed. This lack of awareness can and does cause inconvenience, stress and unhappiness to practicing Muslims in the workplace. Kwintessential, a leading cross cultural communication training provider, has released a free guide for employers with Muslim staff to help them better understand the month and what it means to Islam's adherents.

An international Hindu rights organization is concerned over a growing intolerance towards Hindu's by right wing Christians in the West.
Concerned About Anti-Hindu Crusade by Rightwing Christians
Hindu Human Rights is concerned by what they believe to be a growing intolerance of the right wing Christian elements in the West which have been increasingly targeting Hindus and Hinduism in recent years. The latest incident, where a yoga instructor was banned from using two southwest England churches because the priests considered yoga to be 'un-Christian,' cannot be treated as an isolated incident, says HHR. In fact, according to HHR, it is in line with fundamentalist Christian thinkers such as K.P. Yohannen, head of US based Gospel for Asia, who in his book Revolution in World Missions refers to yoga as a means "to receive visitation from demon spirits" into the mind and body, as opposed to a practice for spiritual and physical development.
