Donald Ryles, PhD, is a writer about all things paranormal, with a special emphasis on UFO related subjects. Although his WordPress hosted blog is badly in need of a web designer (the design is extremely ugly, plain and outright amateurish), it's still a good site for those of you interested in the real life weird and offbeat. The site is frequently updated with news story's that Dr. Ryles has found elsewhere (both on the web and in print). On the day that we looked at this site, for example, the lead story, taken from "Time " magazine, was on our military's efforts to develop a helmet that would be capable of sending thoughts from one soldier to another. This is a fairly new site, so we're leaving it unrated for the time being.

This is the web site for Austin, Texas based metaphysical artist Mickie Bellah, who's work has been featured in the New Age publications Innerchange and Mystic Pop. Lots of interesting art to look at - or to purchase if you desire. Three out of Five Stars.

This is the online site for the print publication Mystic Pop Magazine. Unlike many magazines, the entire contents of Mystic Pop are online - and there's lots of good reading here. The quality of the writing compares favorably with "A" list magazines. We highly recommend this site. Five out of Five Stars!

Okay, to us Pagan type folks, Halloween just has to be the best mainstream holiday, so how could we not support the Halloween Hall of Fame? After all, what's not to like? If you go there, you can vote for your favorite to be inducted into the Halloween Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, as of this writing, Uncle Al isn't in the running. We give it Three out of Five Stars - only marking it down because of the seasonal nature of the site.

This is a very useful site that serves as a link between African Americans and the continent of Africa. History has made it more difficult for black Americans to trace their heritage back to their home continent than for other groups - so a site such as this can help to bridge that gap. We applaud this effort.

The subtitle of this site is: "Organization for Christian Polygamy." Now, the way we see it is that most of us have enough trouble maintaining a sane and healthy relationship with just one person. But since we believe in freedom and all, we figure that if you want to have multiple husbands or wives, who are we to say no. Anyway, we're not going to rate this one - figuring it best to leave it to you to decide.

Okay, here's another one of those "everything you ever wanted to know about" sites. On this one, the focus is on the homeless, the street people who always have an interesting story when hitting you up for a dollar. The site is somewhat controversial - for several reasons. To begin with, the site approaches homelessness through humor. More damning to the politically correct, the site recognizes the fact that not all street people are victims of circumstance. In the words of the site: "While some may find this approach deplorable and argue that painting all homeless people with the same brush is unfair and only serves to reinforce stereotypes, we contend that it is just as unfair to portray all homeless people as needy individuals that just need a helping hand to get their lives back on track. The simple fact is there ARE individuals who, for a multitude of reasons, cannot be helped or do not want it, preferring instead to take advantage of the compassion and generosity of others." Mean spirited? We'll leave it to you to decide.

This is a very slick site that claims to be a service to the intelligence community. In fact, the slickness of the presentation suggests that folks like you and me are the target audience. Anyway, there's tons of interesting stuff here, and it seems to be updated often. If you're one of those people who think that there's a lot of truth woven into the fiction in "The X Files," or if you think "The Matrix" is based on solid yet secret scientific research, then this site is for you. Four out of Five Stars.
